Summer Events Happening Right Here in Boston MA

We’re right smack in the middle of spring and graduation season, and it’s the perfect time to start putting together your summer! Known for its extreme humid continental climate and hot summers (some would argue this being a ‘breath of fresh air’ from the deep freeze a couple of months back), summer is bright, loud, colorful and bursting with energy. Boston MA has continuously ranked as one of the most tourist-friendly cities in the United States.

Summer is all about fireworks, walks in the park, picnics with the family and close friends, anticipating the July 4th, taking on the Boston Pops concert and then scouring Boston Harborfest for the most delightful local cuisine available.

Fenway Park, home to the Red Sox, is also always expected to be packed and roaring with fans from all over the country, while Friday Flicks shown at the Esplanade is where things get a little more romantic. Here are some top events and activities happening around Boston during the summer months.

Awesome Fireworks and Spectacular Concerts

Everywhere around the country, concert halls, ballrooms, event venues and exhibition halls are going to be packed. You’re going to want to be prepared for this one.

No matter how you look at it, you’re going to agree that the July 4th Pops Concerts and its following fireworks display is jaw-droppingly good. The patriotic national holiday is celebrated along the banks of Charles River, people call it a national celebration taken to a whole new level!

It starts with entertainment the night before the big day near The Oval area of Esplanade in front of Hatch Shell, which is then greeted with an exemplary display of fireworks to get the celebration going. After enjoying the firing off of more than 10,000 fireworks, find yourself a comfortable space alongside the river while watching the sky light up with dazzling pyrotechnics. If you’re not keen to rub shoulders with everyone else, an alternative would be to book a hotel room near the Esplanade (Sheraton, Liberty Hotel, Taj Hotel Boston and Marriott Cambridge) where the awesome view would be in plain sight too. It beats catching the action on TV. If you’re game for live concerts, book your spot on the 3rd, and if you’re in for the fireworks, July 4th is the day for it.

You don’t really have to scamper around for too long for a spot if you arrive a few hours earlier at the site of choice. The fireworks are launched between Longfellow and Mass Ave Bridges, so, you can typically see them from miles and miles away. There are also plenty of good spots along the Cambridge side of the river, near BU Bridge, in front of MIT, on top of Bunker Hill, and even from Castle Island 3 miles away.
